About us

A "BRIEF" INTRODUCTION ABOUT US:

Women around the world play an essential role in the social, historical and cultural composition of their country. In Peru, women
have contributed, since the Columbine ages, to various areas of our culture and society; however, throughout the history of
Peru there have been ups and downs in terms of its recognition. For many years, various groups around the world have tried, and
succeeded, in recognizing their rights and contributions. In this sense, Peru has not been exempt from these movements, nor
from the various changes that both time and constant struggle have caused. Even so, there is still a long way to go when it comes
to gender gaps.
What we know as our beautiful country, Peru, is a mixture of efforts of men and women. There is no doubt that what we know as
Peruvian culture has been an achievement of both, if this is so, why does it not seem so? Why does it always seem to be attribute
to a single gender? In this blog, a group of 5 students from the National Reality and Globalization course at San Ignacio de
Loyola University will seek to give visibility to the contributions of Peruvian women in our society, their impact on culture and
history, as well as what it means to be a woman in Peru. On the other hand, we will also analyze the opportunities that we have in
the current reality of our country and how it could improve.

Who are we? - Autors

We are a group of 6 students of University San Ignacio de Loyola who made this blog to write about an old but unsolved problem

until our days. We think we have something to say:

Harold

18 years old, Architecture and Urbanism student. If I could say something about my purpose, it would make people aware about

the problems that people often touch superficially. I think this is the first step to a bigger change.

Adriana

21 years old, student of the first semester of Marketing and International Business. Some of the reasons why I think this blog is

significant is because it helps us to know our history from another point of view, one that is not common. This can be helpful to

demonstrate to girls, young and adult women that we have been able to achieve wonderful things and, although we are still

fighting inequality, our contributions to art, science, politics and education can be very significant.

Valeria

17 years old, Music career student. What I would like to highlight about this blog is how women have made history over time

and because of that, we have many reasons why we should give them recognition. On the other hand, I hope that this blog helps

highlight the gender inequality that still exists in the country and that should be eradicated as quickly as possible.

Ariadna

17 years old, hotel administration student. With this blog, I would like to highlight the important things that women have done.

Furthermore, this would be a motivation for young people, especially for women, as this would help them see the important role

that women continue to play over time.

Diego

17 years old. A Civil Engineer in progress. This blog is created to give to understanding the history of the Peruvian women along

these years, in a direct way and of quick reading, in order not to " dull " the reader, furthermore it is vital importance the impact

to the society through their rights and opinions, something incredible that will be “spoken” along this blog!

Angela Villar, a 29-year-old student of the Education Faculty. As an educator I would like to share with my students not only knowledge they can learn from a book or internet, also to develop their critical thinking on different aspects and apply it later for the benefit of our society. This blog is a main resource that will help us (not only the readers also the authors) to be conscious of the importance that women had through the years and that, unfortunately, was underestimated.

Vision- What we want?

Highlight the value of the contributions, by women, that make our country the Peru that we know, as well as what aspects currently

limit them. With this, we not only enrich the knowledge of those who have no knowledge of the subject, but we will also encourage

Peruvian women to know their past and continue building their present.

“it is important for women to become aware of their true historical role in

society; otherwise one reform will simply follow another, and the result will

be merely a series of palliatives for a problem of the greatest importance”

-Ana Gálvez Barrera. Some ideas from Women technicians in small countries, page 9]

Mission- How will we achieve it?

We will review our history, the past and present, to follow, remark and propose the recognition of the impact of peruvian women

through time . We will investigate the role of women in different periods of Peruvian history and through different publications

we will provide information on the most outstanding activities, prominent figures and cultural contributions.
